SES BY FERNÁNDEZ Y ROCHE
Hats made for the island sun, woven by hands that have known straw since 1885.
SES wanted the simplest thing the Mallorcan summer asks for. Shade that still lets the air through. The making went to Fernández y Roche, hatmakers in Seville since 1885. Straw drawn fine, blocked over wooden forms, finished by hand. Slow work that leaves each hat with the small irregularities of something not made by machine.
Worn low against the midday light or carried home from the beach, these are hats for a season lived outdoors. The island's idea of summer, shaped by one of Spain's oldest hands.
